When it comes to bullion, the base metal copper may not be as valuable as its precious siblings gold and silver, but it certainly has its own appeal. I'm not a big fan of the Lincoln and Wheat cents, but when it comes to .999 pure copper bullion bars it certainly has a lot of eye appeal and is strikingly unique. There are also lots of neat art bars available with attractive designs that are as fun to collect as silver art bars, but a lot cheaper.
Just make sure that whether you are buying copper rounds or copper bars, you keep them carefully protected in sleeves and only handle them with gloves on. Copper can tarnish very quickly and get ugly fast.
The other advantage of collecting copper bullion is that it is an industrial metal used in many applications so it will always have some value, though it certainly won't skyrocket the way that gold does.
